I am a bit skeptical that linux is up to the task of dealing with the high number of threads the SunFire hardware supports.
I was really impressed with how fast the sunfire compiles when parallelism is enabled. One library I compiled went from 45 seconds to 7 seconds on a T1000.
On the downside the T1000 is a very loud machine. It has several fans that spin at 9600 RPM.
